Obituary for Jerry Nydam

Jerry Nydam passed away peacefully on Monday, June 27, 2016 at the age of 92. He was born on December 1, 1923 in The Hague, The Netherlands. He was the eldest of 4 children. After graduating from Engineering his first working experience was in Morocco. After that he immigrated to Canada where he met his wife Fritzy. They were married for 57 years and together they had 3 children, Mary-Anne (Rik), Ingrid and Eric (Anne). In 1971 he was sent with his family to The Netherlands by the B.C. lumber industry. After his retirement Jerry and Fritzy moved back to Canada to live in Collingwood. Jerry's legacy to the family was our family cottage in Thornbury on Georgian Bay which he himself designed and built. It has become the family center where we all enjoy being together. The cottage was the place where he was the happiest, surrounded by his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren (Maggie, Jannes, Sjoukje and Neil). A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday July 2, 2016 at St. George’s Anglican Church, 166 Russell St. E, Clarksburg. In lieu of flowers donations to the General & Marine Hospital would be appreciated.
