Obituary for Joyce Kearney

Joyce Kearney
Joyce Elizabeth ‘Momsie’ Kearney, in her 94th year, of Mississauga, Ontario, passed away suddenly on August 10, 2017 while vacationing in Collingwood.
Predeceased in 1990 by her husband, Herbert Allen Kearney, and more recently by her eldest daughter, Sharon ‘Lee’ Pettersen, on May 2, 2017, Joyce is survived by her children Sandra Wayne, Robin Stewart (Alexander), Sue Kearney and David Kearney, grandchildren Adam Wayne (Katie) Kate Pettersen, Ryan Stewart, Ali Pettersen and Reid Stewart, and her great-granddaugher Abigail Elizabeth Wayne.
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on May 19, 1923, Joyce was the eldest of three children, the late Robert Dickinson (Blanche) and the late Gail Corson (Gord). Joyce attended Vaughan Road Collegiate and with Herb lived in Oshawa, the Beaches and Thornhill before settling in Clarkson/Lorne Park where she lived for the past 58 years.
Fond memories of tennis at Whiteoaks Park, the Boulevard Club and Ontario Racquet Club are surpassed only by her twice weekly love of Bridge at the MGCC. Joyce was never happier than when spending time with good friends and family preferably over a glass of wine.
Joyce loved the frequent visits from her grandchildren and took special delight in being ‘in the know’ especially when mothers, Robin and Lee were not! Cremation has taken place and a private burial in the family plot will occur at a later date. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Mississauga Golf and Country Club, 1725 Mississauga Road. Refreshments following.
If desired, donations to Lee Pettersen’s Nurse Navigator fund at Princess Margaret Hospital would be appreciated (http://www.thepmcf.ca/leepettersen)
