Condolence: I'm finding it really hard to believe that you're gone. I'll never have the right words, but Ricky-bamboo, you were truly something else. You were one of the main reasons I fell in love with instructing at Osler and you were the only person who was able to fix my "buckle knees" (finally). Thank you for all the laughs (even when you were laughing at me), for always picking up those extra stickers after work and surprising me with them the next day, for your kindess, patience, and compassion, and for being the best ski mentor (and life coach... and boys-have-cooties-stay-away-from-them coach). You really were the type to light up a room and bring out the best in everyone. It was that infectious smile and that humungous heart of yours! And of course those piercing baby blues. I've never met another person (or even husky) with dazzlers quite like yours. Honestly, I don't know why but ever since the first day I met you, whenever I'm looking into a pair of bright, blue eyes, my mind immediately thinks, "well, they're nothing compared to Rick's". Every single time. And I think it must go back to what was said this past weekend at your service--your eyes had a real, genuine sparkle to them.

I'm sad we didn't get to see more of each other in the last two years. I've really missed skiing with you but I'm glad we got that Thanksgiving coffee date in! I miss you more than I can explain and I'll love you forever.

P.S. What do you call a person with no body and no nose? ;-)

Condolence From: Colin Pettit and Sandy Carruthers
Condolence: We would like to share our most heartfelt sympathies with Jacqueline, Jessica and the whole Warll family. We worked with Rick at Blue Mountain years ago and, like Shred, we remember his "Hero" day so well. He reacted without hesitation to save that child's life and that to us seemed right in character with who Rick was. He was a genuine, kind soul who loved his family immensely and was so proud of them. A bit of Ontario skiing royalty! He was a good man and we are sure he will be very much missed by so very many. Our deepest and most sincere condolences. Colin Pettit, Sandy Carruthers and Finn.

Condolence: Ricky you will be remembered always with great fondness. We were friends for most of our lives from when we were young to adults. People that think men and women can't be friends didn't know us! We talked about many confidante parts of our lives the good and bad. We knew each other well! I was very lucky to have had you as my buddy. The years I spent growing up with you will always be remembered! I loved all our time spent going on boat trips and touring Georgian bay, Moon River and drinking purple Jesus getting it all over us and your boat with each crazy wave we bounced off! I would always sit on the bow with my legs hanging over riding your boat like a bull while you steared us home! It was the best times of our lives and it will always be remembered as the best parts of my life. I remember every Friday you coming to meet me at my cottage to see what new girlfriend I brought up for you to meet! Of course they all loved you with those amazing bright blue eyes and kind sole... who could resist falling in love with you? I was so happy when you found true love with Julie, the privialige of being at your wedding, seeing you married and having two beautiful girls Jacqueline Warll Jess Warll. It was so much fun having our girls be friends and buddies. Going to Collingwood every weekend teaching us how to ski and having great family fun! I remember you coming to the cottage when you first became sick and was so saddened by your illness. Even tho reciently we hadn't talked for some years it was nice to catch up on the phone a few years back talking for hours.. like old times. I wish you hadn't gotten ill and suffered so. May you now find pease in the arms of the Angeles, they will wipe every tear from your eyes, take you to God and death will be no more, there will no longer be any mouring, crying or pain, for you are safe now in the arms of God. May you rest in peace this birthday of eternity ❤❤

Condolence From: Juli-Anne Warll
Condolence: I am so grateful to have gotten some unexpected time with Rick this summer but still very sad to hear of his passing all too soon. We didn't get a lot of time together as cousins growing up in different countries but every time I saw Rick I thought of him as very kind, humbly handsome and seemed to have a quiet happiness about him. I'm glad to know he is now pain free but wish he hadn't had to endure any of that pain.

Jacqueline and Jess, my heart goes out to you both and to all the family. Rick will be very missed by many. I hope the good memories can outweigh the heartache and bring smiles to your faces for years to come.

Condolence: Dear Jess, Jacqueline and Family,
I remember Rick from being a teenage girl having lessons from Rick...his beautiful smile, eyes and gentle, kind soul. Then I was an instructor at Blue,oh the fun we had and shenanigans we got into... all through the 80's and 90's. Definable the best day and memories of my life. Rick's beautiful smile and kind ways are forever in my heart and soul. Rick was so proud of his girls, and family. He is truly an icon in the ski industry. Gone but never forgotten. My heart goes out to all of you. Jess ...you ski every family day for him..."keep the traditions no matter how small"...from the poem "A Branch Has Fallen From Our Family Tree " ❤

Condolence From: Virgilia Libert
Condolence: I’ll always remember Rick as one of my favourite instructors at Craigleith. I always wanted to be in his group for session every morning because he was super fun and loved to ski. I was always amazed that he could ski with just a baseball cap (on backwards of course) and his goggles turned around backwards to keep his hat on. How his ears didn’t freeze was always a mystery. Rick you will always be remembered, I think of you often as I now learn to become a better ski instructor myself. My condolences to Rick's family and his daughters.

Condolence From: Jackie (Gerrie) McKenzie
Condolence: My deepest sympathies at this very sad time. I worked with Rick at Blue Mountain and always wished I could ski with the grace he showed and I always wished for eyes as blue as his. At this very sad time please take comfort in the fact that he will live on for a very long time in the hearts of everyone he touched.
