Obituary for Anne Vokes

Passed away peacefully on October 18th in Collingwood in her 90th year (although she would never want to admit her age). Loving mother to Pam Kinzie (George) and John Firstbrook (Ann), grandmother to Andrew Firstbrook and GiGi to Carolyn Kinzie (Colin Mowatt) and Neil Kinzie (Etsuko) and their children Serena, Henry and Neko. She will also be missed by her brother David Tyrrell (Shirley Little).
Anne grew up in Moore Park in Toronto and attended Havergal College. She became a nursery school teacher and loved being with kids all her life. She always had great advice on how to raise the generations of children in her family and how to cook a rare roast of beef. Anne had a great love of life, always excited to be around friends and family. She spent many happy summers in Muskoka where she helped to build her first cottage. She helped to clear the first trail at Osler Bluff Ski Club and had great fun skiing and living there, playing golf and travelling to warmer places with her late husband Don Vokes and subsequently with her companion Dean Dignam.
The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at Balmoral Place Retirement Community and the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN for their thoughtful and empathetic care. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 2nd at OslerBrook Golf Club, 2634 10th Line, Collingwood at 2:00 p.m. Donations to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital would be appreciated.
