My friend, Pat Kelly was a lovely creative spirit. She was so proud of her family, often coming in to the yarn shop with very specific colours in mind for a hat or a sweater to knit for someone in the family. She put a lot of thought into each knitting project. Socks were not her favourite but she did venture once or twice to knit a pair.
Pat was always eloquently dressed. I remember the time she’s bought a new pair of shoes at a shop here in town. She was showing them to us at knit group, as was Heather, who’d by chance bought the same pair, same colour at the same shop. That didn’t happen often. We all laughed and laughed.
You see, Pat had a certain style about her clothing choices. She’d see a sweater design by Elaine Fisher and decide to modify a knitting pattern she’d spotted to add special similar "Elaine Fisher" features. Her modified knitting patterns became works of art.
I recall the time she was travelling to Italy. She was so excited because she could visit an Italian Yarn Shop to purchase some of the finest yarns in the world. As the story goes, for days Pat, Don and friends were looking for the shops and not a single shop could be found. Didn't matter too much as the Amalfi Coast was gorgeous enough.
Pat, you will be missed so much - Your lovely smile, quiet manner, kind words and thoughtfulness to all
