The Irrepressible “Johnny” I will never forget that big smile of Johnnys. We were new to Go Home Lake. It was an early evening in the summer, dusk had just fallen. We were heading out of the channel from Minor's Bay Marine, just in front of Go Home Lake Marine. There was Johnny's boat, pointing towards Minor's Bay, just floating, almost at a standstill,lights on. I headed toward John and yelled out the usual "...how ya doing, where you going?" type of thing. He replied, "on the way to the cottage". I said, "but your cottage is in the other direction." John, with a big grin, replied "I know, but my forward gear isn't working, so I'm just putting there in reverse."
